Head for the hills and make Gravity Haus Vail your adventure basecamp. Here’s our take on the ultimate summer itinerary to get you going!
HERE'S WHAT TO DO WITH 36 HOURS IN VAIL THIS SUMMER!
Day 1 Afternoon
Welcome to your haus away from home! In the heart of the European-inspired Vail Village, 22-room mountain chic Gravity Haus offers a beautiful marriage of luxury and comfort. Carve out your coveted space and take full advantage of amenities that include a recovery spa, Dryland Fitness, co-working space, a pasture-to-table restaurant and small-batch coffee haus.
Day 1 Evening
Sidle into a blue velvet booth in the mod lobby bistro for a cocktail or two. Slope Room is making a name with handcrafted creations and gourmet snacks inspired by Colorado farmers and ranchers. Try the Bee’s Knees with gin, lemon, honey and lavender or a glass of Napa Valley cabernet paired with the local Wagyu hot stone.
Day 1 Night
Soak in the cool summer mountain air on a riverside stroll just behind the property or follow the Gore Creek path to the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater for some live music. Close out the night star-gazing in the Gravity Haus outdoor hot tubs before sinking into your plush king-size bed.
Day 2 Morning
After an epic night’s rest, grab a sustainably brewed latte downstairs from Unravel Coffee and fuel up on sourdough avocado toast or ham and spinach eggs benedict.
Knock out a sweat sesh at Dryland Fitness & Spa. The state-of-the-art center is decked with Peloton bikes, a full cardio suite, strength equipment, and yoga and fitness classes. Zen out with access to a sauna, steam room and high-altitude spa treatment menu.
Walk to nearby Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and stop to meditate, read or just soak up the serene scene in the world’s highest botanical garden. If it’s Sunday, peruse the 140 vendors at the Vail Farmers’ Market and Art Show in Vail Village.
Day 2 Afternoon
Hit Vail’s legendary cobblestone streets and hop from boutique to gallery to jewelry store for some of Colorado’s most eclectic and impressive high-fashion shopping. Enjoy a gourmet lunch on the patio at Mountain Standard or Fall Line.
Gain a little altitude. Grab a ticket for a scenic gondola ride and explore an Epic Discovery Nature Trail on Vail Mountain. Have the kiddos in tow? Try the Little Eagle Kids Zipline, bungee trampoline, climbing wall, mini golf, the alpine coaster or the summer tubing hill.
Craving more adrenaline? Take your full-suspension mountain bike up to 10,350 feet and inhale expansive views of the Gore Range and beyond. And then send it down Vail’s world-class squeal-inducing bike trails.
Evening
Savor the long sunny summer day and try something new. Expert Vail outfitters dish up adventures spanning horseback riding, hot air balloon rides and fly fishing. There’s even goat yoga and llama trekking complete with wine and cheese (yep, it’s a thing).
Indulge in a serious feast and work your way through Slope Room’s regionally sourced summer menu. Begin with the glazed pork belly, move on to the beet and tomato salad with white balsamic vinaigrette and finish with juicy grass-fed ribeye or the Alamosa striped bass.
Night
The nightlife scene in Vail is like no other. Rub elbows with locals, celebs and international travelers at hot spots like the Red Lion, The George, Vail Brewing Company, Bad Kitty Lounge and Bart & Yeti’s.
