About the event: Friends of Berthoud Pass is a grassroots nonprofit organization that spreads the wealth of knowledge of basic level avalanche education to the public. If you’re still wondering who they are, they’re really just a clan of motivated volunteers who are passionate about skiing and doing it safely in the backcountry. They follow standards set by the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) and the American Avalanche Association (AAA) and we consult with highly respected educators in Colorado and elsewhere on our curriculum and course development.
