GRAVITY HAUS EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

MEET: NADINE HINKLE

DIRECTOR OF FITNESS + SPA | DRYLAND VAIL

We are beyond excited to have Nadine join Gravity Haus via the Dryland Fitness team at Gravity Haus Vail. From single track to Vail’s back bowls – she’s Eagle County through and through. Get to know Nadine!

Q: First, tell us about your athletic / fitness / wellness background!

A: I grew up in a small town in Iowa and there was always a need to fill the “traditional” sports teams in softball, volleyball, basketball and track. Alongside these sports I was an age group swimmer and that took me through high school to the collegiate level at the University of Northern Iowa. Swimming was a blast and I loved the camaraderie of our co-ed training and travel team. While at UNI I received a BA in Health Education and coaching.

After moving to the Colorado mountains in 2000 I have found my fav time was cycling in all forms: mountain, road and gravel. I’ve enjoyed mountain bike racing and tour rides like Ride the Rockies and RAGBRAI. From this love of cycling and passion for getting more women on bikes I founded a women’s cycling club, Vail Valley Vixens, in 2015.

In the winter I enjoy alpine and nordic skiing as well as hiking/snowshoeing.

My professional career has revolved around fitness and mountain experiences by way of private clubs, group sales and hospitality. I thrive when leading and collaborating with a team who deliver experiences that light others up and connect them with others.

Q: Sweet. Do you do any races or challenges?

A: Although I have found a healthy challenge in cycling racing now I am enjoying the experiences like cycling in Mallorca or the upcoming Tour de Steamboat. I still have that big event bug and look forward to returning to the challenge soon, time to look at that fall gravel race schedule!

Q: What are your favorite mountain life activities?

A: Mountain biking with my daughter and enjoying a killer sunset close to home. Big road rides like the Leadville Loop with strong women and great snacks along the way. Skiing Vail Back Bowls and exploring new runs. Hiking to high alpine lakes and hopefully getting some overnights on trail.

Q: What’s on your bucket list?

A: Hut to Hut Mountain Biking in the San Juans, Southern Colorado. Backpacking in Alaska with my daughter. Dive with Manta Rays. Kayak with whales in the Pacific Northwest.

Q: What brought you to Vail?

A: I came out with friends to check it out after college thinking I’d go back to the “real world” and teach high school…but then never left!

Q: When you’re not at Dryland, where can we find you?

A: I live in Eagle and love the small town scene with trails and routes to ride bikes and run with my dog Honey and relax with my family.

Q: What’s your superpower?

A: Connecting and empowering women on bikes.

Q: What about hidden talents?

A: Parenting a teenager ‘cause it takes special talents to ride shotgun while they are learning how to drive or keeping my mouth shut when they just want to vent and really don’t want advice.

Q: Mantra you live by?

A: This is teaching me something. Today is going to be a good day!

Q: What drew you to Gravity Haus?

A: The culture of adventure, connections, experiences and community!

Q: Words of wisdom for like-minded adventurers?

A: There is space for everyone in the outdoors. We can all be first timers or be there to welcome others to the party. It’s ok try something new and it’s ok to come back to what fills you up.
