Opening Day: November 12, 2021
Vail is celebrating its earliest ski season opening day in decades, aiming to fire up chair lifts on November 12, conditions permitting. Thanks to a new state-of-the-art snowmaking system, Vail Mountain is ready to kick this season off with a bang, fueling our stoke for the resort’s screaming front side rippers and magical back bowls and glades spread across 5,317 acres of dreamy skiable terrain.
Here’s how to make the most of the resort’s opening weekend.
Celebrate the Season
Vail Mountain will be kicking off the biggest ski season opening party in Colorado on November 12 with live music, a banner breaking, hot breakfast for early risers and food and drink specials throughout the day. Resort partners are also providing samples of Cutwater Spirits to be enjoyed responsibly. (Details on bands, breakfast, locations and terrain opening will be announced the week of opening day.)
The party continues throughout the 2021-22 season as Vail welcomes the return of Revely throughout November, Vail Snow Days December 3–4 and Powabunga December 9–12.
Revely Vail welcomes the brilliance of winter, offering family-oriented activities throughout Vail, including ice skating exhibitions, silent discos, tree lighting, the Kris Kringle Market and more. Vail Snow Days serves up big name concerts (think Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats and Dierks Bently), silent discos and village parties. The Powabunga Music & Arts Festival returns to Ford Park with large-scale art installations and an eclectic musical lineup that includes headliners Rufus Du Sol and Bob Moses.
