Yampa River Float and Happy Hour

About the Event : Grab a friend or come on your own to enjoy a scenic journey down the Yampa River in Steamboat Springs. Thanks to conservation efforts that fought the construction of dams, the Yampa River stands as the only free-flowing river in the Colorado Tributary System. Explore its path through the million-year-old rock that displays its rich geological history. The river travels alongside downtown Steamboat, the perfect scenic weekend retreat.

This trip is best suited for those comfortable with possibly encountering white water. Since the natural conditions are hard to predict, we will follow the advice of local guides from Backdoor Sports. We will only head out on the water if the conditions are deemed safe.

After floating, feel free to join in for a happy hour hangout at Mountain Tap Brewery. First round on the haus!

Itinerary

• 1 PM: Meet at Backdoor Sports
• 1:15 PM: Gear up & grab a tube
• 1:30 PM: Set off for the afternoon
• 3:30 PM: Shuttle back to Backdoor Sports
• 4-5 PM: Happy hour hangout

FAQs

• Age Requirement: Ages 18+
• What’s Included? Single- person innertubes, transportation to return to downtown Steamboat after the float, and a fun-filled afternoon topped off with a drink on the haus!
• What’s Not Included? Lodging, clothing (See recommended gear under FAQs), insurance (Trip or Rescue), gratuity
• What Do I Wear? Avoid cotton clothing, as it tends to get wet and stay wet – not to mention taking valuable warmth from your body’s surface. For tubing, bathing suits and shorts are recommended and secure footwear is required (no flip-flops allowed). Towels are best kept in your vehicles and don’t do you much good on the river because there is no way to keep them dry. Sunscreen, sunglass straps, and reusable water bottles are recommended (please no cans or glass). If you have any questions please contact us so that you know what to expect.
• What Do I Bring? Reusable water bottle/ beverage container, sunscreen, and secure footwear. Remember, you pack out what you pack in so be mindful of what you’re bringing.
• Is Transportation Provided? Transportation is only provided to return to Backdoor Sports after the float.
• Suggested Accommodation: Book your stay at Gravity Haus Steamboat for the weekend! There’s lots to explore in the mountains, on the water, and in town!
