MEET: MILES GENTRY
While Miles might be new to the Gravity Haus scene, he’s anything but new when it comes to the fitness world. Miles started earning his stripes in 4th grade and hasn’t looked back since. Get to know Miles both inside and outside the gym below.
Q: First, tell us about your athletic / fitness background!
A: My background with athletics started when I was on a competitive shooting team back in North Carolina from the age of 14-18. I played soccer from 4th grade all the way through high school.
After I graduated from Appalachian State with a degree in Exercise Science, I worked at Wake Forest University coaching the college athletes in the weight room. After working with WFU for 2 years I moved to Vail to work as a strength and conditioning coach with Ski and Snowboard Club Vail. I worked with the SSCV athletes for 9 years before moving to Gravity Haus.
Q: Sweet. Do you do any races or challenges?
A: I do. I race in the local Mountain Bike town series, Go Pro, VRD trail running series, the VRD rafting series (when I can), and many more MTB races around the country.
Q: What are your favorite mountain life activities?
A: I love the sunrise and sunsets in the mountains. My favorite mountain life activity is hiking, biking, or skinning to watch the day begin and end.
Q: What’s on your bucket list?
A:
- I would love to travel the country in a van and enjoy van life for a time. My Fiancée and I have always wanted a van to travel.
- I also would love to raft the Grand Canyon.
- Bike the Kokopelli trail from Fruita to Moab.
Q: What brought you to Vail?
A: I have always wanted to live in Colorado. I was offered a job with Ski and Snowboard Club Vail and took it. I packed up my car and drove out to Vail without ever visiting the area. 10 years later I’m still here.
Q: When you’re not at Dryland, where can we find you?
A: On the river fishing, on the trails biking, or the slopes skiing, with my Fiancée and puppy.
Q: What’s your superpower?
A: My superpower is that I can fly. Just kidding I would say that it is my ability to teach and coach. I can help people relate to things in a way that they can understand.
Q: What about hidden talents?
A: I can draw and paint. I used to be good at art. I haven’t done it too much anymore but that was my hidden talent.

Q. What do you love about Gravity Haus so far?
A: The culture and the people. Everyone is here to help others get the most out of their time with us. I love being able to help people enjoy the mountains and rivers in our backyard.
Q. Words of wisdom for like-minded adventurers?
A: Do it all. If someone asks if you want to join on an adventure, you go! You never know what you might like or what you will see or whom you will meet.
I never was into or liked water and now I own a raft and have some of the best times on the water with friends and family in the summer. If I hadn’t taken my friend up on a rafting trip 4 years ago, I might not have known how much I would enjoy it today.
