6 Ways to Have a Multi-Sport Day in Winter Park

Ski the mountain and then head to the fishing stream. Explore the backcountry and hit some afternoon links. Soak up the best of both seasons in Winter Park with Gravity Haus as your adventure basecamp. Here’s how to swing it:

Day 1 | AM

Ski and snowboard Winter Park’s amazing terrain, work on your goggle tan and maybe even squeeze in a deep late-season pow day. Party with the locals at Spring Bash + Splash events throughout the month of April — think bluegrass fests, beer fests, pond skimming and loads of live music. The resort plans to keep lifts spinning until mid-May.

Day 1 | PM

Fish the Fraser River later in the day as the trout start to stir and bite. Swap your ski poles for a fly rod and cast the main tributary of the Colorado River. This wild fishery runs north 32 miles from Berthoud Pass to its confluence with the Colorado River west of Granby and houses some trophy-size whoppers.

Day 2 | AM

Quiet backcountry touring mornings are heavenly here. Skin, sweat and explore the deep stuff on Berthoud Pass and get your heart rate thumping on The Cirque Territory at Winter Park Resort. Dig into the northside goods on Jones Pass with Jones Pass Guides. They’ll take you on a snowcat skiing adventure to remember.

Day 2 | PM

Golf some of the state’s most spectacular courses. Grand County boasts four beautiful high-altitude courses (most open in May). Pole Creek offers 360-degree mountain views and diverse terrain. Grand Lake Golf Course is loved for its lodgepole pines, aspens, moose, elk and deer. Golf Granby Ranch features two strategic nine-hole courses and Grand Elk takes inspiration from the inland greens of the British Isles.

Day 3 | AM

Nordic ski 100 kilometers of trails at Devil’s Thumb Ranch and Snow Mountain Ranch and traverse 35 kilometers at Grand Lake Nordic Center (spring snowpack and conditions pending). The valley is known for its pristine trails carved out for everyone from first-timers to elite racers.

Day 3 | PM

Dust off the road bike and feel the wind and afternoon sun on your face. Winter Park is Colorado’s biking mecca with endless downhill and singletrack but the paved paths tend to dry out first. Hop on the smooth Fraser River Trail and cruise by meadows, rivers and campgrounds.

Set yourself up for multi-sport success: Begin and end your spring adventure days at Gravity Haus Winter Park. Members save up to 50% off nightly rates, but you don’t need to be a member to stay. This mountain town basecamp rests in a new boutique motel in the heart of downtown Winter Park. Grab coffee, après and grub at Unravel, bring your pup (we’ll provide the doggie bed, bowl and treats), take a yoga class at Dryland Fitness, soak in the outdoor hot tubs, and book badass gear from the Winter Park Haus Quiver.
