GRAVITY HAUS PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: DPS SKIS
Forward-thinking ski visionary Stephan Drake and veteran ski engineer Peter Turner founded DPS in 2005. The pioneers have been building skis out of carbon for nearly 20 years and are responsible for the world’s first and only pure pre-pregnated carbon fiber sandwich ski, the first 120mm-waisted powder pintail, the first rockered ski with sidecut, and Phantom, a one-time permanent base treatment that replaces wax.
In 2013, DPS moved all overseas production to the base of the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City.
Gravity Haus chose DPS for the experience of the gear. “As the brand is at such a pinnacle — there are only a certain subset of skiers that can procure their own pair — we wanted to bring this elevated equipment experience to more skiers,” says Haus Quiver program director Matt Pacocha. The DPS brand has built a brand foundation with its cinematic pursuits capturing the feeling we’re all out there searching for when we’re out there and then built a house of beautiful and durable products that enhance our time on the snow.
DPS also carries a strong sustainability story that comes with the effort to build durably and domestically, calling on partners like Checkerspot, a local materials company that creates the DPS sidewall, which is made from 63% algae.
DPS Products Shoutout
DPS premier touring skis are light, durable high-performance planks pushing the material comfort zone of the ski industry. We’re proud to have stocked Haus Quivers with a fleet of Pagoda Tour backcountry skis, known for their rippin’ downhill performance in powder and extreme lightweight feel.
