Travel Like a Pro: Getting to Breckenridge

All the ways you can get to Breck from Denver International Airport.

Touch down and head for the hills! Breckenridge is a straight shot 90 miles west on I-70 from Denver’s bustling airport. Shared and private shuttles, rental vehicles or buses — choose your wheels and we’ll see you soon!

AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICES

For the easiest route, most visitors book a spot on a shuttle van or SUV to travel the two hours from the airport to Breckenridge. Call on Epic Mountain Express for direct shuttle service between the Denver airport and the mountains. Kick back, let the pros drive you door to door while you enjoy free wi-fi or take a nap. Shuttle drivers will drop you directly at your destination and help you unload your luggage. (Tips are greatly appreciated!)

RENTAL CAR

Take the driver’s seat and set your own pace with a rental car. Denver International Airport (DIA) offers all the big-name car rental companies with plenty of options ranging from sedans to four-wheel-drive vehicles. Be prepared for winding, climbing busy interstate driving and mountain weather that can change on a dime. Visit GoI70.com for road conditions and traffic reports — I-70 can get pretty congested westbound on Fridays and eastbound on Sundays. Once you’re settled into your lodging in Breck, take free hotel shuttles or local buses to get around and avoid finding and paying for parking.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

For the most budget-friendly option, hop on the bus from Denver International Airport to Breckenridge and take in the scenic Rocky Mountain views as you climb to 9,600 feet. The Bustang west line from Union Station downtown Denver (access it via the RTD rail service from DIA to downtown) will take you to the Frisco Bus Station. From there, get on the free Summit Stage bus to Breckenridge.

New this year, United Airlines offers daily service to Breckenridge booked through their website. Ground transportation company Landline then takes you directly from Denver International Airport to Breckenridge on a luxury charter bus. Learn more at United.com.

Be sure to take some time to stroll and see Breck on foot or by bike. Our little mountain hamlet is blessed with a super walkable downtown and beautiful paved trails.

Safe travels!
