About This Trip
Join Gravity Haus for a stunning adventure through Colorado’s blooming wildflowers as we hike from Camp Hale to Jackal Hut. After the 4-mile journey, kick off your hiking boots and unwind with dinner courtesy of Slope Room (no dehydrated potatoes for you), before relaxing and swapping adventure stories with your fellow hikers. Don’t forget to pop out onto the deck to take in the beauty of the Colorado sky from 11,660′.
The next morning, we’ll enjoy breakfast and coffee before heading out on a guided day-hike on Chicago Ridge, where the 10th Mountain Division trained during WWII. Dinner will again be from Slope Room. Card games and charades have been known to pop up on night two, so bring your competitive side.
On the final morning, after more caffeine and calories at the breakfast table, you’ll make the journey back to the trailhead, to mark the completion of your trek.
Huts are almost completely sold out for this season, so grab your spot!
About Jackal Hut
Located near timberline in an area used by 10th Mountain troops during their war training in the 1940s, Jackal Hut is a coveted destination for explorers with terrific views of several stunning 14,000-foot peaks. The hut was built with money donated by Jack Schuss and Al Zesiger, two strong supporters of 10th Mountain (the name is an eponymous combo of Jack-Al). Jackal Hut is the eastern most hut owned by 10th Mountain Division Hut Association. It is the closest hut to the Camp Hale site, where the 10th Mountain Division soldiers did most of their training during the Second World War.
