About This Trip

Built in 1985, Peter Estin Hut was the third publicly funded hut added to the 10th Mountain system. Funds were donated by the Estin family in memory of Peter Estin. The hut is located in a clearing on a timbered saddle just northwest of Charles Peak (12,050 feet). Centered in a vast forested area, the hut provides access to myriad trails, dirt roads for summer recreation, and one alpine ridge that leads to the heart of Colorado’s Gore mountain range.

After hiking nearly 5 miles to the hut on day one, kick off your hiking boots and unwind with dinner courtesy of Cabin Juice (no dehydrated potatoes for you), before taking in the stunning view of the Elk and Williams mountains to the south at sunset.

The next morning, enjoy breakfast and coffee before heading out on a guided day-hike to Charles Peak and Mystic Island Lake – we’ll lunch along the way! There will be plenty of downtime to explore, mountain bike or rest with a book on the deck after. Dinner will again be from Cabin Juice.

On the final morning, after more caffeine and calories at the breakfast table, you’ll make the journey back to the trailhead, to mark the completion of your trek.

• Virtual pre-trip orientation meeting, where you’ll “meet” with your guides, fellow trekkers, and review all details in preparation for your trip.

September 18

• Meet at trailhead
• Guided trek or mountain bike ride to the Peter Estin Hut

• Supper by Cabin Juice – Chef Josiah and his team prepared all items in advance at Cabin Juice for an elevated dining experience
• Overnight at the hut (BYO sleeping bag and pillow)

September 19

• Breakfast with Unravel coffee
• Guided hike to Charles Peak and Mystic Island Lake, with a stop for lunch along the way
• Optional: Mountain Bike on the trails just outside the huts instead of, or in addition to, the hike!
• Après drinks and snacks
• Supper by Cabin Juice – Chef Josiah and his team prepared all items in advance at Cabin Juice for an elevated dining experience
• Overnight at the huts (BYO sleeping bag and pillow)

September 20

• Breakfast with Unravel coffee
• Hike or bike down to trailhead

• Skill level: Intermediate to advanced. You will be trekking over 12 miles and 3,000 feet over the course of this experience, much of the time with a pack.
• Group Size: 13 attendees plus 2 Paragon Guides guides and 2 Gravity Haus teammates
• Included: Guided experience, 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 2 dinners, access to Haus Quiver for all gear needs.
• Not included: Sleeping bags, pillows, gratuity, any meals or activities not listed above.
